Rialto Bridge in Venice
Rialto Bridge is the city's geographical centre and one of the top visiting sites for tourists; this is the reference point in the Grand Canal, many people cross it and enjoy its beautiful canal views. This bridge was the first construction ever to link the two borders making possible to cross the bridge by foot.
At the beginning it was formed by boats, but in the 13th century, an actual wooden bridge was raised. In 1588 the actual stoned bridge was constructed, under Antonio da Ponte's project. Later on, the two rows of luxury shops were added.
