How to get to the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are for sure the furthest point in Spain’s territory. Located about 3.000 km by air from Barcelona, the same distance there is from Barcelona to Helsinki.

The official maps locate the Canary Islands between Cadiz and Cabo San Vicente in Portugal. The peculiar surprise is for travelers to experience the actual location of the islands. For example, the time to fly from Barcelona to Tenerife is of about two and a half hours to 3 hours, depending if you’re coming or going. From Madrid the time is a bit less than 2 hours.

Another way to get there is by boat, from Cadiz, this takes about 2 days and makes for a wonderful sea trip.
