Punta Cana: When to Travel

In trying to plan our perfect family vacation in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic we asked the same question all travelers ask (or should): when is the best time to visit?  If you aren't so very flexible with your travel dates, you might at least want to know what the weather will be like during your stay and if you are coming in the peak tourist season or off-peak.  After a little research we were ready to book our 7 seater car rental from Punta Cana International Airport!

No Time is a Bad Time

Beautiful, Tropical, and Caribbean, the Dominican Republic remains warm year round without getting much hotter than 80 degrees Fahrenheit.  No mater when you can book your car hire reservation, you won't regret your choice of destination... that is unless you are terribly put out to share your resorts with fellow tourists. 

End of the Rush

Peak season in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic comes in March.  If you're really obsessed with avoiding the crowds then you will want to plan your travel dates outside the months of December, January and February.  However, even when tourism is at its peak the finer resorts are designed to include such variety in their spacious layouts that it is really like a little all-inclusive city where you rarely have to worry about lines.  Cost Conscious travelers will come just after the rush, beginning in March and running until May, because this is when prices drop dramatically and you can get the best rates on your Punta Cana car rental, resort, tours, and even airline tickets.

Hurricane Season

Rain, rain, and more rain.  The discount vacation packages available between June and November are more than worth it for lovers of Merengue, Jazz, which are among the festival highlights during the Summer Holiday in Punta Cana, but if you're coming to golf you had better have a back up plan for when the course is rained out.
